Effective risk management includes protecting both your client and your organization.

Technical matters—such as belaying techniques, medical screening, challenge course construction and other field practices—are best left to the experts in those areas. Reb's expertise is identifying and helping you understand your program's areas of exposure, administratively and in the field, and helping you manage your legal liability issues. He assists in the development of documents which allocate liability (releases, waivers and indemnity agreements, etc.), consultation regarding the use of professionals (insurance, medical, legal), examination of promotional and other literature, resolution of claims of negligence or other wrongdoing, and otherwise encouraging quality programming with fair treatment of clients, students and staff.

Reb's philosophy is that your risks should be carefully analyzed, unnecessary risks eliminated, and risks necessary to the achievement of clearly stated goals should be well managed. In the event of an accident—and even good programs will have accidents—the program's focus should be on learning how and why it happened, and the prevention of a repeat occurrence.
